Good Golly Miss Molly....

Wanted to update last night actually, but seriously besides packing and unpacking, i really really hate ironing. when i can afford it, i'm just gonna hire a maid to do all my ironing. seriously. clean the house once a week and do my ironing.

Didnt have much thoughts last week, but well i would say i do have some brief ones... i think....

Blood Diamond....

I know this movie was last year, i just watched it last Thursday nite. My verdict of the movie... awesome. it deserved all the critical acclaims and the award nominations. and i must say, that was Leonardo's best performance yet. He squared down the South African (SA) accent on the dot... yah bru? awesome. in fact i think might be watching it again just for the sake of practicing how to speak like a SA.

well here's the thing, the movie was based on true events about war torn Sierra Leone that involves diamonds as well as political uprising by the rebels in Africa around the area. so basically it's based on true events and facts. i dont really wanna spoil it for those who has not seen it, but my two cents is, the movie was so good that i felt a bit down after. i mean seriously, we whine about our daily jobs, our relationships if our significant other is loyal or not, or better yet just being annoying, or not having sufficient money coz you just spent money on spa. but the thing is, we keep forgetting, including myself here, that there are people in a much worse conditions than we are. they'd trade our life for 10 years away out of their life i think.

another sad thing is seeing how evil can human beings really be. and as for this movie, it involves 8yr old kids as well. carrying their AK47, and slaughtering a whole village including men and children without any sense of regret or remorse. It sends chill to ur spine knowing that children could be THE most evil product of mankind if properly brainwashed and drained out of all their moral value. and to do that to kids, its not that hard at all. and yet our kids crave the obesity that slowly swallows our nation.

at one point last week, i couldnt understand why, the world we live in, sometimes even same religion, like pakistan, iraq, muslims and muslims, same races, could not gather the courtesy to stop all their differences and throw away that huge ego, and eventually live harmoniously. good example, the bombing of police officers in pakistan by rebels... on awal muharram. the start of the calendar year of Islam.

isnt that what we were taught in religion? heck, even as decent human beings we could already deduce that. it aint exactly rubix cube okay? but yeah, i just cant understand that time, why did god make us this way. then a friend of mine said, well that's their challenge of which, the rewards could be later or even much later in the after life. something like that. which in the end, i think was kinda true. but it doesnt stop u from thinking, ur life's not worth living if u dont do something about it to help out with their suffering. if i was given the chance to go to africa or india, or in any war torn countries that need unicef help or something like that, i'd go. at least i'm risking my life for a much noble cause. my two cents though. rather than just sit in front of the tv, and see all the pain and say 'my god, is anyone seeing this? is anyone doing anything about it??' then after that switch to spongebob and laugh urself hysterically. the reality is, almost everyone does that, including me.

another good movie in that league, i would say... Hotel Rwanda. oh man. watch it.

is this what we want our kids to grow up with? (pic was from bbc)....

Punctuality R Us....

most people who know me, i'm almost always punctual. not perfect, but i'm almost always. but anyway, it kept me thinking, what's the point of me going to a meeting but my peers or colleagues are half an hour late when meeting is only supposed to be 1 hour? wont i be pissed if i was late for my own wedding because of others' petty problems, butang baju la konon, bla bla bla. wouldnt it be impolite to say, 'i'll be there at the coffee place to see u at 1pm' and ur friend there has been waiting till 2pm hoping to leave his laptop when u came so he could pee (never happened).

but seriously, i wonder sometimes, why cant we be thoroughly punctual? I keep hearing some people say, 'alaaa biasa la janji melayu'. BULLSHIT. throughout my life i've heard 'We're Filipinos, we're well known to be late', 'I'm Italian, Italian time is always later than the actual time', 'I'm indian, we're always late,' or 'spanish are always known to be late'.

pardon my french but FUCK that man. it's not a cultural mindset people! it's your own mindset. u need to that paradigm shift shit and tell urself u need to do this so that ur not gonna be pissing other people off. at least if u know u cant be on time, then, instead of saying the normal time at 8, make it later so that ur late is on time, u know what i mean? i dont think it's hard to be punctual. it's just having respect for another, and that self discipline that you cultivate within urself. plus, so what if other people do it, and they make you wait. at least if they start seeing this frequently, one day it could knock some sense to them to be punctual, at least to you! so please people, punctuality, is NOT a genetic problem, NOT a cultural problem, NOT something that involves constipation, NO. it involves YOU shifting your mindset. there u go. think about it.
