I've converted... to Sony Walkman....

Ipod can kiss my brown ass bye bye. I've always thought Ipod was clearly overrated but i bought it anyway because it was the only available mp3 player in RPI at that point of time.

Roughly 3 weeks ago, my ipod Shuffle's system crashed. Hence... I had a taste of life without music for the whole time. Going to work, riding on the train, doing work, things felt really quiet and i was bored, unable to concentrate most of the time.

Was about to repair my shuffle... but then i thought repairing an 3 years ago tech geek equipment would deem pointless, plus, the ipod pestilence has creeped into everyone on its simplicity, and most people forgot who was actually sitting on the pedestal of portable music players. I was torn between Sony workout, or Sony noice cancelling. Sony noise cancelling was AWESOME!! the sound and clarity for real... cancelled the noise even at low volume and the clarity of the songs.. dear god... clarity... would make you sit speechless, and be like the dude in the Sony advertisement who has a problem... he needs music. yeapss.. awesome. But i bought the Sony workout... come oooon... an mp3 player that would be able to count my pace, my calories i lost, and change music based on my speed, undeniably awesome. can ipod do that?

(ipod lovers would probably be hunting me down after this)

I just got back from labuan, sadly, didnt take any cool pictures of the city, but hopefully, next time i'll be able to go again. It is THE cleanest place i've seen in Malaysia. Period. so clean, soooo appropriate and so comfortable. I think its not as fun as langkawi... i think laaa... since its an industrial place, but it is very nice anyway. and since the place is totally duty free... the national car in Labuan is NOT proton. its Toyota Vios. Only losers would be seen driving a malaysian made car. weirdly cool huh?

My realization....

So last two weekends i went to kuching for some team building thingy. Despite being so sick down with flu most of the time, i managed to endure all the obstacles at the outdoor... since i truly live for the outdoor. i think a part of me is made for that, i love it so much. put me to camp out in the middle of the jungle for two nights with sufficient food supply and a tent, give me RM10, id do it. heck, i'd do it for free if i wasn't working.

but anyway, this one activity, called trust fall... where a person has to free fall to the ground for a 6 feet platform, and everyone at the bottom will catch them with their arms readily out. I did mine, was fun, was a rush, until this one point, where the group was about to catch this one guy, and i was in the catching group, so as we caught him, obviously we bended our knee to lessen the momentum. but at the same time, causing us to get closer to each other, hence, i bumped my head to another guy. next thing i know, i had a gash with gushing blood on my forehead. it was... awesome. yes.. im a sadist... the first question i asked was... would i need stitches? because i soooo wanted it. and yes... i got it. sadly only two. but at least i had stitches on my forehead. now i have a nice healing scar just above my eyebrow. too bad it didnt cut between the eyebrow... otherwise.. it'd be undeniably awesome.

but anyway, after everything was okay, later that nite, we had this Operasi Burung Hantu, and for those who dont know, what they do is they put you in the middle of the jungle, and leave you there for a while. I went through this once when i was in high school. seriously, it scared me shitless. i was scared. i was thinking about my spirits my suddenly grab me from behind, what lady would be standing and blaaaaas. I was kinda expecting that this time hence i just calmed myself down, uttered some prayers before the walk started and made some jokes and tried to ignore everything.

well... what i wanted to expect was something totally different. All i know, i was sitting down in the dark, looking at glow in the dark leaves, uttered some prayers, and most of the time i was thinking why am i here as a person, and how far i've come since i was in high school. i wasnt scared at all. the only time i was scared was hearing to the sound of a wild boar that completely froze me and i tried not to breathe, and look for which tree to climb if that thing starts chasing me. other than that, all i thought was how i've grown. i wasnt scared, i think more rationally when i was in high school, in terms of women/relationships... fuck it... i dont need it now. when it comes, it'll come. and i dont wanna waste my time with women who cant appreciate me. and it wasnt on the top of my list to think about.

it was weird. there were no spirits, i wasnt freaked out, and i just laid back, looked at the wild, the trees, listening to the still of the nite, sometimes humming to Patsy Cline's 'you belong to me'. i never thought that i'd be in that position... and it was a really big self realization... and honestly, im more into improvng my career to shape me into a better person.

so basically, i think... if you sit down, pace yourself, and empty yourself... then you look back, and compare yourself as an individual from where you were, and where you are now... you'd see something different. there has to be something good, something to boost yourself as an individual, that you have done, and become a better person. yeapss....

well after the program i actually did two more jungle trekking in other jungles and the pics i got was frankly one of the coolest pics i've ever snapped. there this was one time, last saturday, i had to push one of my expeditioners on a boat since he couldnt hve the energy to track through the jungle anymore and make his way back. So it was the ranger, my colleague, and i, were pushing him on a boat, by the ocean, passing by muara sungai that's croc infested. yeapsss... i did. the funniest thing was, i had a talk with the ranger before the boat thing, and he told me that the river was really croc infested, plus i see the warning signs are up everywhere. and he told me that usually people who die eaten by crocs has a history of eating crocs, like the ibanese who were man-eaten by the crocs. i didnt believe it, but i was a bit freaked out... mainly because i ate croc meat before. before you say anything, its for medical purposes, not pleasure. the toughest thing ive ever eaten. it was like chewing on a tyre. so as i pushed the boat by the ocean and before passing the muara sungai (cant remember in english, its where the river goes into the ocean), i was sooo looking around and hoping im not stepping on a crocs head in the murky waters. hahahaha. before we entered the muara sungai, we all jumped in and let it flow to the other side. it was a great experience. would looooove to be the next Jeff Corwin.

High Rope... awesome

had this scar in a bar fight. it was a tough one... but the guy was not standing up. hueyaaaah....

Evolution....

It's been quite a slow week. I've been so clueless in front of the desktop wondering if my hardwork asking for the transfer into marketing actually beared some fruit. did it? im at the verge of had-its. well all i know, this month is going to be quite hectic. i'm not even sure if i get to go to KL this end of the month to chill with the Hatims and the apartment that'll chart history. Spread da love.....

Was actually hoping to be able to watch MUSE in action as well. How i wish i could chill and listen to them singing as well.

anyway, had a short discussion about Malaysian comedy yesterday. Amazingly, Kevin got it spot on. This is what was derived...

basically, the western evolution of comedy has evolved since the start of the movie camera. it initially started with physical comedy, hence, came up the famous Charlie Chaplin. Nevertheless... it was hilarious, audiences blew their head off just watching this white dude, as white as Mr Monopoly, completely going topsy turvy falling over and over again. It was great.

Then came movie with sound. After that, America gave birth to the famous 'Three Stooges'. Who could forget the classical Moe, Larry, and Curly, with again, physical comedy, but with a great addition of made up voice as Moe tries to poke larry in his eyes. The combination of that physical comedy and quacked up voices cracked people more than ever, with the addition with a fat guy where people somehow always think very adorable. But usually plus size individuals are quite funny, because somehow they're always happy. Faidz and Abe says not to call them plus size though, it was either fat or plump. what do u think? plus size better? or the latter?

So, after the world has been entertained by The Three Stooges, The Rat Pack, I love Lucy, the world has become more intelligent, and entertainment needs more zest, more IQ, more thinking. Hence, stand up comics were born, from the great Richard Pryor in the 70s, Billy Crystal, and then there is goes all the way. Comedy has involved current issues, involves better intellectual thinking, not insulting a person's intelligence, and they have taken serious aspects of the world and made fun of it not to the extent that its offensive, but just nice. the public accepted it till now.

Now... Malaysia's evolution of comedy. Yes, I will not deny it, even until now, i'd still laugh my ass off watching P Ramlee with his genius lyrics, isketambatu, isketambola, sadiq sepakraga and what not. However, if you notice, at this point of time, this modern time, this after 2000, the new millenium, the 'Marcapada', when similar jokes are pulled off, it is not as mad hilarious as it was back then. Why has our comedy not evolved? This discussion came up due to Astro's current reality show 'Raja Lawak'. I'm sorry, but i think, wearing weird hats, and making weird voices, is stupid really. it's funny, but only until a certain extent. We need to take that old mentality, refine it, and re-DEFINE malaysian comedy, malaysian entertainment. I think it doesnt come from me alone, but Malaysia needs the thing i mentioned.

Talking about comedy, i came across 'Billy Connolly's 13 things I hate about people'. For those who dont know who is this guy, he's a stand up scottish. Not THE most hilarious guys, but still damn hilarious. He was the scotsman who appeared as Tom Cruise's Right handman in The Last Samurai.

so here goes

1. People who point their wrist while asking for the time... I know where my watch is pal, where the fuck is yours? Do I point my crotch when i ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their arse to search the entire room for TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Fucking right! What good is a cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the fuck would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No tosser, I paid 10 quid to come to the cinema and stare at the fucking floor.

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?". Didnt really give me a choice there did you sunshine?

7. When something is "new and improved!". Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything done before it. If it's an improvement then there must've been something before it.

8. When people say "life is short". What the fuck? Life is the longest damn thing anyone every fucking does!! What can you do longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks,"Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, Knob Head?

10. People who say things like 'My eyes aren't what it used to be". So what did it used to be? Ears? Wellington boots?

11. When you're eating something and someone asks "Is that nice?" No it's really revolting - I always eat stuff i hate.

12. People who announce they are going to the toilet. Thanks that's an image i didnt really need.

13. McDonalds staff who pretend they don't understand you if you dont insert the 'Mc' before the item you are ordering... It has to be a McChicken Burger, just a Chicken Burger gets blank looks. Well I'll have a McStray and jam it in you McEyes you fucking McTosser.

well that's it... catcha guys next week.

Confusing confusing confusing....

Yes... i have not blogged again for more than a week. Not because i was lazy... but the days i usually update my blog, usually thursday till the weekend, was swamped last week. yeapss. believe it or not, i had a last minute trip which i did not see coming at all. It was a cool weekend last weekend, that I have not had for so long really.

How cool was it? I shall not elaborate but with this short sentences and for you to summarize

My cool last weekend.
  • Abe + Faidz + Irfan = Terror trio combine!!
  • Family reunions, yeaps... havent met Abe's and Faidz's family for a while. so to be able to meet them again was really nice, really great.
  • Maya Hotel, shite... its a room... for doing it... literally. the only sucky thing was i ended up going there with two other guys. not a good example. but bet abe and faidz were having reaaaally a good time. if u know what i mean. abe's been very lonely... if u know what i mean. faidz really misses abe... if u know what i mean. they had each other at hello... if u know what i mean.
  • Chillin at Abe's apartment, talking, with camera spinning around, and talking about... bandul... weird, stupidly weird
  • Raju's... DEAR GOD sooo good. THE best indian restaurant in Malaysia... EVER. undisputedly THE best.
  • meeting my sister who seems to finally know how to bergaya. good good.
  • KLCC + meeting = confused what to feel. happy? sad?
  • for everyone that i couldnt meet during my stay... im really sorry, it was such a last minute thing, and was also occupied with work at that time, imagine, doing work in KL while two of ur friends go crazy and ur sooooo tempted to join. sucky feeling.
So... its a new year again... 2007... and i'm gonna be a quarter of century. i wonder what this year has stored in for me. beautiful ladies? girlfriends? part time work or project with the terror trio? or the most important thing at all in my life rite now... a job that i really really truly enjoy? just praying for the best.

I've got so many thoughts going through my head the whole time this whole week. Makes me wonder, that, if i could do a job just by giving people weird advices, id probably be so fucking rich by now.

first of all, I am now hooked with Grey's Anatomy. Really, its soooo addictive. The drama and all. It made me remember back when i was deciding what to do with my life after SPM. i had these three choices of what to be back then:-
  • Architect
  • Marine Engineer
  • Forensics
but naaah... had to do environmental engineering, something i had noooo clue of. hahaah. genius of me. well fate had a nice way of working my way, and i end up having one of the coolest experiences ever, surrounded with a mixed group of people, some of whom, are now people that i have always been honored they took me in as their buds.

but anyway, yes... grey's anatomy... now still in season 2. yes yes, im a bit late, but who cares. all i know, im having so much time. my favorite character has to be Christina played by Sandra Oh. the guys seem to disagree, but i think, yeah of course la she's NOT the hottest actor on the show, but because of her acting, her being a realist, and such a strong character, i think she's really hot because of that. she so deserves the golden globe. and something i found out about myself this week... women who can ride big bikes... easy rider bikes... is SUCH a turn on. SUCH a turn on okay?? Also, i found out that this word would be such a turn on, i think not only for me, but for all men in the world. these words, uttered by a lady, in the morning...

'never met a guy who wouldn't fuck me again in the morning...'. yeapss... oh, of course, provided, the lady's hot too. yes... i'm biased. oh btw... those werethe words uttered by this hot girl hlly aper tah from entourage season 2....

Due to my totally mixed emotions, with office drama, and home BS and shaite this week... i think i became quite lazy. been sitting at home in my room in the dark most of the time, listening to music, reading online comics and watching downloaded tv shows on my laptop. didnt do much workout, the only workout i've been doing are my pushups and pullups. didnt jog and all till this morning.

i seriously think im morphing into a monster. i think level 1 of being the monster is being very lazy, isolating myself in my room in the dark. 2nd level, i'd probably stop brushing my teeth, and i stop shaving. 3rd level, i'd start nesting in my room, piling up my clothes and papers in one corner and curl up, and not answering any phone calls or door knocks and not having dinner. finally, i'd have horns and fangs coming out, and i start communicating with animals, insects. yeaps... i think stopped at level 1 though since i managed to go jogging yesterday and swimming today. otherwise, people would probably need to put me down... but its not gonna be easy.

Weird Malaysian Mentality....

So, okay, the past raya haji, i was watching this movie... Rempit. sure sure, its a malay movie. honestly, like most malay movies, i think they over acted on some characters, but i must say, there are some very brazen attempts of the movie, and i really respect them for that, where they show the current reality of the malay culture. although im not so exposed to the rempit culture, and i honestly dont really care. but the other aspects of the malay culture. showing a man and woman, half naked in bed, the words and other things. that's something really. u dont see that shown much in the malaysian production. however, again, like i mentioned over acting in the malay movie.

Also, okay, being a martial arts fan, i'm kinda apalled when they did this. its STREET FIGHTING okkaay. but somehow, like all malay movies, tetiba everyone bukak bunga silat aper tah, and then do all the flips, and then the rollings and all. DUDE... come ON, in real fights, you take people down. 80% of real fights, people end up on the ground immediately. dont you watch UFC. OR better yet, i'd say one of the best real fights I've honestly watched was in Bridget Jones's Diary. now THAT's a real fight of the upper class people who never fought or exposed to any martial arts. I enjoyed that one really.

another thing... now back to the audiences. So what if they show what they show in the Rempit movie. like it or not, two different gender individuals do have premarital sex and all that shit. people do fucking swear in real life. it's a reality!! then you mention how kids should not be exposed to such media coz that'll spoil them. Bullshit. in the end, its up to the parents' upbringing okay? how you explain to them, how you teach them right and wrong, teach them religion. taboo to the malaysian media. but then, when it comes to the western production, that stupid steven seagal and arnold seems to be the admiration of most boys, and they all definitely watch the movie. and you dont mind them being exposed to the western culture and their truth of the world. what kind of fucked up discrimanation is that? of course honestly i think the westerners are full of shit sometimes, like how US needs to save the world's ass most of the time and what not. but still, dude, be reasonable. its up to you, and how you raise your kids okay? and you think your child is so damn innocent? there's the discovery channel, then their other friends are exposed to all those. come ooooooooooooooooooooooon.

enjoy the pics, and the vid....

Me trying to be all indiana jones....

Lana & Helos... congrats (i know its late posting, but yeah... was swamped....)

aaaand u wonder.....

Weapon of choice video...
